It's Friday! Hot Toddies!!

Happy Friday!

It is winter across the land and it is time for some hot drinks to warm up our hearts and minds!
I am going to start with a cold one but the rest are hot,hot,hot
Here we go!











Rum Coffee on the Rocks

ice cubes, 3/4 cup rum,2/1/2 cups triple strength black coffee.
6 tablesppons heavy cream and lightly whipped sugar.
Put about 3 ice cubes in a tall glass and pour 11/2 tablespoons rum,fill up with black coffee and top with whipped cream. Add sugar if liked.

Instant coffee can also be used.



Rum Coffee and Bitter Chocolate

6 oz unsweetened chocolate
1/2 teapsoon powdered cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
3/4 cup rum
2 1/2 cups strong cold black coffee
6 tablespoons double cream.

Melt the chocolate in a basin over a pan of boiling water. Stir in cinnamon and vanilla.When well mxed,add the rum and slowly stir in the coffee. Chill and serve in cups topped with whipped cream. Add sugar if needed.








Cafe Brulot- patience is required for this recipe!


2 pieces orange rind
2 pieces lime or lemon rind
6 sugar lumps
3 cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
2 cups rum
2 cups black coffee

Put orange and lime rind in a saucepan with 4 sugar lumps,cloves,cinnamon and vanilla. Add the rum and very slowly bring nearly to boiling point. Dip a warmed ladle into the spiced rum, fill with and drop 2 sugar lumps into the ladle. Ignite and when flaming,gently lower the ladle into the saucepan of rum. Add the coffee and wait until the rum has stopped burning.Strain into small cups.


Hot Toddy
  • 1 oz brandy, whiskey or rum
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • 1/4 lemon
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 tea bag
  1. Coat the bottom of a mug or an Irish coffee glass with honey.
  2. Add the liquor and the juice of the lemon quarter.
  3. On the side, heat water in a tea kettle and add the tea bag to make hot tea.
  4. Pour the steaming tea into the glass and stir.











Hot Buttered Rum


11/2 teaspoon buttered rum mix
1 tsp butter
3/4 cup boiling water
1 jigger of rum
